Fresno State Men’s Basketball: A Work in Progress

When people go to an event at The Save Mart Center in Fresno they see signs advertising Table Mountain Casino, Pepsi and other various sponsors that help provide a home for the various teams and musicians that play there. For fans of the Fresno State men’s basketball team however, those signs may as well read under construction.

All of the teams at Fresno State are playing their first year in the Mountain West Conference after years of playing in the Western Athletic Conference (WAC). The competition is much stiffer in the Mountain West to be sure for every team but no team at Fresno State faces more of an uphill battle than the men’s basketball team.

For the last three years, they have a combined 42-55 record. They also haven’t qualified for the postseason in six years! This is a young team that features a lot of talent, As coach Rodney Terry can a test to.

Over the next few years, the men’s basketball team can expect to be competitive with young talent like Center, Robert Upshaw, Point Guard, Cezar Guerrero and Power Forward Braeden Anderson, leading the charge. The Bulldogs should become a force to be reckoned with in the Mountain West and in the larger scope of college basketball once coach Terry is able to have a few more recruiting classes under his belt.

Fear not, those ads at The Save Mart Center that read much like construction signs to bulldog basketball fans now will be nothing more than ads in the near future.
